BIOGRAPHY
Cinthia Joyce's passion for beauty and art seem to permeate her every thought. She has been an artist since she was born, and is a prolific and adventurous explorer into the depths of the world of art.
She paints, she sculpts and is fully immersed in a glorious banquet of mediums. She says working back and forth from realism to abstract strengthens her sense of design and keeps her fully engrossed and never bored. Just for fun sometimes she sculpts the same pose creating one in a realistic style and one in an abstract style!
She loves to sculpt, yet color is her other passion, so she absolutely must paint! Her paintings express elegance, delight and the exuberant joy of life itself, and one is surrounded with a vibration of positive energy when in a room filled with her work.
Cinthia Joyce was raised in Malibu, where she was around a lot of animals and glorious scenery. Animals are some of her favorite subjects. She feels spiritually connected to them. She is fascinated studying their habits and lifestyles before she dives in to her work, giving them a new expression of life in form of art.
Figurative work is her specialty. She has taken many intense anatomy courses to master the complexity of the human body in motion. One of her finest sculptural achievements is her 7 1/2' high Atlas Uplifting the Cosmos. It took 2 1/2 years to complete, and her fabulous model was a two-time World Champion in Acrobatic Gymnastics and performer for Cirque Du Soleil.
She has done many other private and public commissions, including Pacific Gray Whale in front of the Point Vicente Interpretive Center in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Torrance Performing Arts Consortium has commissioned her to sculpt their award sculptures, plaques and medals. Her work is in many private art collections and has received numerous awards. She is a Sculptor Member of the prestigious California Art Club.
She majored in art history at UCLA, went on to do interior design and took workshops from painting and sculpting masters. Traveling all over the world she has visited numerous art museums and historical sites, and recently went on safari in Africa. She lives in Manhattan Beach, Ca.
